Episode 202 of Rendering Unconscious Podcast.

Alkistis Dimech presents “The Occulted Body” from the first Psychoanalysis, Art & the Occult conference, London, 2016. Collected papers from the conference can be found in The Fenris Wolf 9 edited by Vanessa Sinclair & Carl Abrahamsson. Visit psychartcult.org for more information.

Alkistis Dimech is a writer and artist – working principally with dance and the body. Her practice is grounded in butô (dark dance), exploring the occulted dimensions of the body, its subtle anatomy and sexuality as an archaeology of the flesh – drawing from the esoteric and phenomenological traditions – and seeks to unfold a process and techne of bodily spiritual transformation. With Peter Grey, she is the co-founder of Scarlet Imprint. Selected works from 2008 to 2018 are documented in The Brazen Vessel.

Join us for the next event at Morbid Anatomy Museum online Sunday, July 17, 2022 @ 2PM EST: The Atavistic Network by Charlotte Rodgers and Necromancy: Working with Blood and Adopted Ancestors in Art and Magic by Dr Vanessa Sinclair

CALL FOR PAPERS – Journal Psychoanalysis, Culture & Society

WOMEN’S BODIES, REPRODUCITVE RIGHTS AND SELF DETERMINATION

In light of Wade versus Roe in the USA and attempts to curtail abortion rights for anyone with a uterus in several countries around the world, often characterised by an authoritarian and theocratic backlash on liberalism, PCS is inviting short pithy reflections on women’s bodies, reproductive rights and self-determination in the current socio-political climate.

We are interested to hear from activists, academics, artists and psychotherapists of different generations. We welcome submissions of up to a 1000 words, including prose, poems and original artwork. All submitted works must have an explicit psychoanalytic component.

Please submit to PCS, Counterpace section, by the 15th of September 2022. We aim to publish the responses in the first issue of 2023.
